Energize Missouri Industries

The Department awarded more than $6.3 million in grant funding to industrial companies from across the state for energy efficiency and conservation projects throughout Missouri under the Energize Missouri Industries program.

Industries will be using the grants to benchmark facility energy performance, conduct energy audits, and perform energy systems retrofits by installing energy efficiency projects.

The Department received project applications for the Industrial Energy Efficiency Program through a competitive application process. The program received a total of 196 applications from industrial companies requesting over $18 million for energy efficiency projects.

Applications were reviewed and ranked using several factors including energy-saving potential and feasibility. The most popular projects were lighting upgrades and energy audits.

Northeast Missouri Businesses

Bodine Aluminum Inc. – a manufacturing company in Troy, will receive a grant award of $605,000 to install a regenerative thermal oxidizer. The total project cost is more than $1.2 million.

Buckman USA – a chemical company in Cadet, will receive a grant award of $45,261 to install a boiler control system and insulation. The total project cost is nearly $50,000.

Continental Casting, LLC – a manufacturer in Monroe, will receive a grant award of $123,850 to upgrade lighting and replace standard air compressors. The total project cost is more than $290,000.

Continental Cement Company, LLC – a cement company in Hannibal, will receive a grant award of $50,000 to conduct an energy audit.  The total project cost is $72,000.

Henniges Automotive – an automotive company in New Haven, will receive a grant award of $53,379 to upgrade their blower system. The total project cost is nearly $100,000.

LMC Industries, Inc. – a manufacturer in Arnold, will receive a grant award of $50,000 to conduct an energy audit.  The total project cost is more than $65,000.

St. Louis Area Businesses

Anheuser-Busch, Inc. – a brewery in St. Louis, will receive a grant award of $750,000 to upgrade lighting and install steam control monitors. The total project cost is more than $1.2 million.

Mallinckrodt/Covidien – a healthcare company in St. Louis, will receive grant awards of $500,000 to retrofit the existing chiller and install an efficient cooling tower. The company will also receive a grant award of $78,481 to upgrade lighting and install three chillers. The total project cost is more than $2.4 million.

Elantas PDG, Inc. – a manufacturer in St. Louis, will receive a grant award of $46,480 to upgrade lighting and install a heat recovery unit. The total project cost is more than $120,000.

Nestle Purina Petcare Company – a petcare company in St. Louis, will receive a grant award of $481,651 to upgrade their boiler system and a grant award of $154,563 to install an energy recovery system. The total cost for all projects is nearly $900,000.

New World Pastaa food company in St. Louis, will receive a grant award of $500,000 to upgrade their boiler system. They will also receive a grant award of $62,647 to upgrade lighting. The total project cost is more than $1 million.

Rexam Food Containers - a plastic packaging company in St. Louis, will receive a grant award of $65,000 to conduct a Level II energy audit and install insulation. The total project cost is more than $120,000.

Sigma-Aldrich – a chemical company in St. Louis, will receive a grant award of $50,000 to conduct Level II and Level III energy audits at two facilities. The total project cost is more than $120,000.

SSM DePaul Hospital - a healthcare system in St. Louis, will receive a grant award of $318,887 to replace two boilers. The total project cost is nearly $665,000.

Cascades Plastics, Inc. – a plastics and foam manufacturer in Warrenton, will receive a grant award of $18,000 to upgrade lighting. They will also receive a grant award of $53,000 to conduct a Level II energy audit and to replace a chiller.  The total project cost is nearly $120,000.

GKN Aerospace – an aerospace company in Hazelwood, will receive a grant award of $15,000 to conduct a Level II energy audit. The total project cost is more than $20,000.

Kansas City Area Businesses

Boulevard Brewing Company – a brewery in Kansas City, will receive a grant award of $91,948 to conduct an energy audit and upgrade building mechanical system efficiency. The total project cost is more than $220,000.

Family Center Warehouse- a farm supply store in Harrisonville, will receive a grant award of $8,912 to upgrade the lighting system. The total project cost is more than $20,000.

Insteel Wire Products Company – a manufacturer in St. Joseph, will receive a grant award of $71,672 for lighting and occupancy sensors upgrades. The total project cost is more than $100,000.

Missouri Plating Company – a manufacturing company in Kansas City, will receive a grant award of $112,479 to replace a boiler. The total project cost is more than $110,000.

Onesteel Grinding Systems – a manufacturer in Kansas City, will receive a grant award of $250,000 to retrofit a furnace recuperator. The total project cost is more than $440,000.

Central Missouri Businesses

ABB, Inc. – a technology company in Jefferson City, will receive a grant award of $49,500 to conduct a Level III energy audit. The total project cost is $66,000.

Dura Automotive Systemsan automotive parts manufacturer in Moberly, will receive a grant award of $15,000 to conduct a Level II energy audit. The total project cost is $15,000.

Everlast Sports Manufacturing Corporation – a manufacturer in Moberly, will receive a grant award of $12,000 to conduct a Level II energy audit. The total project cost is $12,000.

Hubbell Power Systems, Inc. – a manufacturer in Centralia, will receive a grant award of $133,014 to conduct an energy audit and upgrade lighting and sensors. They will also receive a grant award of $15,000 to conduct a Level II energy audit. The total project cost is nearly $290,000.

Unilever – a manufacturer in Jefferson City, will receive a grant award of $15,000 to conduct a Level II energy audit. The total project cost is $35,000.

Von Hoffman Corporation – DBA RR Donnelley - a printing company in Owensville, will receive a grant award of $49,500 to conduct a Level III energy audit. The total project cost is $66,000.

Southwest Missouri Business

Able Manufacturing – a manufacturer in Joplin, will receive a grant award of $104,127 to replace inefficient lights with high efficiency lights. The total project cost is more than $250,000.

AC Buckhorn, LLC – a plastic package manufacturer in Springfield, will receive a      grant award of $159,895 to upgrade lighting. The total project cost is more than $235,000.

General Mills – a food company in Joplin, will receive a grant award of $420,339 to upgrade lighting, conduct an energy audit, and replace motors within the facility. The total project cost is more than $1 million.

K & S Wire Products, Inc. - a welding company in Neosho, will receive a grant award of $10,264 to conduct a Level II energy audit. The total project cost is $15,000.

Polymer-Wood Technologies, Inc. - a manufacturer in Carthage, will receive a grant award of $250,000 to upgrade lighting, replace insulation and upgrade building mechanical systems.  The total project cost is more than $680,000.

Springfield Remanufacturing Corp. – a manufacturer in Springfield, will receive a grant award of $30,000 to conduct a Level III energy audit. The total project cost is $40,000.

Standard Transportation Services – a transit company in Springfield, will receive a grant award of $19,237 to upgrade lighting. The total project cost is more than $90,000.

Thorco Industries Inc. – a manufacturer in Nevada, will receive a grant award of $15,000 to conduct a Level II energy audit. The total project cost is $15,000.

Southeast Missouri Businesses

Buchheit, Inc. – a supply company in Perryville, will receive a grant award of $40,196 to upgrade lighting and occupancy sensors. The total project cost is nearly $100,000.

Noranda Aluminum, Inc. – an aluminum company in New Madrid, will receive a grant award of $50,000 to conduct a Level III energy audit. Total project cost is nearly $70,000.

Unilever – a manufacturer in Sikeston, will receive a grant award of $15,000 to conduct a Level II energy audit. The total project cost is $15,000.

Mississippi Lime Company – a lime producer in Ste. Genevieve, will receive a grant award of $355,254 to update the facility fan system. The total project cost is nearly $800,000.

The Department has made Energize Missouri Industries grants available through funding received from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
